Being the leading English written media provider for the Jewish world, the JP was looking for media producer.

Since the Newspaper is read throughout the world, especially in North America and Britain, using the Web was the obvious solution. But using the web prudently and keeping the high level of branding that was earned over years of quality reporting posted a challenge to the JP's managing team. Joining force with Tanagra, the introduction of the JP Premium came into existence, creating a synergy of all aspects, revenue, branding, the open web site andthe written paper.

The client

For over seven decades, The Jerusalem Post has been leading the Jewish media and providing news of the world in general and Israel in particular, to millions of readers around the world. The need to provide the readers with reliable and immediate news prompt the inauguration of the JP web site in 1995, since when the number of on line readers has been climbing constantly.

The JP reporters have earned a reputation of responsible and agile writers who bring the events to the public in a swift and highly articulate manner.

Throughout the world Jewish communities rely on the JP to keep them updated on the ongoing turbulent
scene of Israel and the Jewish world from their headquarters in Tell Aviv.

The challenge

As the world gets smaller and the thirst for immediate information grows, so does the printed letter lose its place to the Digital form, which is faster and cheaper, with this tendency, more and more subscriptions to the paper are lost to the easier digital media.

At JPost, a solution was needed to improve revenue and at the same time keep, or even improve the JPost branding, all this,

The Solution

Resolving the issue at hand involved two aspects, the first was the simple but efficient idea of upgrading the existing web site from an on line publicly open newspaper, to an elite subscription only Premium web issue. The second aspect involved creating a completely new platform based on the Drupal CMS.

Initially the idea was to turn the entire on line web site into a subscription site, but when Tanagra was brought into the think pad we proposed the idea of creating a new separate elite subscription only issue that would levitate the JP's branding and enhance revenue, without causing a deflation in the total number of readers, since the open site went on as before.

The new Premium site has additional material not seen on the open site, as well as different
features
